On the advantages of RAL:

When I received my first shipment of CT-3441S Rapid tripods, I ran a little test. Here's a description of the results of that test:

The Rapid models with the RAL anti-rotation feature are faster and easier to operate.  The biggest advantage of the RAL feature is rapid, one-handed operation of the twist lock collars without the possibility of leg rotation.  This makes it possible to simultaneously unlock all the collars on a single leg by grabbing them all together in one hand and unlocking them all with a single quick, half-turn motion.  This same one-handed operation is also possible when locking the collapsed legs for transport of the tripod.  Thanks to RAL, it is no longer necessary to unlock or lock the collars one at a time when deploying or collapsing the Feisol Rapid tripods.

Without the anti-rotation feature of the new Rapid models, it is possible to get leg rotation when extending and collapsing the legs of a tripod. This doesn't happen often and can be avoided by not over tightening the lower twist lock collars. But, when it does happen, it slows down the process of extending and collapsing the legs. Many Feisol users do not find leg rotation to be a significant issue. Others refuse to buy a tripod without anti-rotation legs. It really is a personal choice.

I have been using tripods without anti-rotation legs for 13 years. So, I have perfected my technique for extending and collapsing the legs and never get any leg rotation. But, even for an experienced user like me, the new Rapid models are faster to set-up and collapse. I timed myself setting up and collapsing a the CT-3441S and CT-3441S Rapid models. It took me 13 seconds to set-up (extend and lock all three legs) the CT-3441S model and 10 seconds to set-up the CT-3441S Rapid model. Collapsing the CT-3441S took 11 seconds and 8 seconds for the CT-3441S Rapid.

The difference in set-up and collapsing times will be greater for an inexperienced user. It takes some practice to learn how to avoid leg rotation on a tripod that lacks anti-rotation legs. So, there is a bit of a learning curve involved. The new Feisol Rapid models can be operated quickly right out of the box by anyone. No practice required and no learning curve involved.
